President's Report

Fall Into a New Year of Opportunity

Building Connections. Developing Leaders. Growing Our Impact.

Dear NABIP Ohio Members,

As summer gives way to fall, a new NABIP year is officially underway, and there is a tremendous amount of energy surrounding our association.

Whether you've been a member for decades or recently joined the NABIP family, thank you for being part of a network of professionals who are dedicated to helping individuals, families, and employers navigate an increasingly complex healthcare landscape. Your expertise, commitment, and advocacy make a difference every single day.

As your NABIP Ohio President, I am excited about what lies ahead. This year, our focus is centered around four simple but powerful goals:

Connect. Develop. Advocate. Grow.

These priorities will guide our efforts as we work together to strengthen member engagement, provide meaningful educational opportunities, advocate for our profession, and help NABIP Ohio continue its positive momentum.

Your Board Is Already Hard at Work

In August, your NABIP Ohio Board of Directors gathered for our first strategic planning session of the new year. The conversation was energizing, collaborative, and focused on building upon the tremendous work of those who have served before us.

Some of our key priorities for 2026-2027 include:

The common theme throughout every discussion was simple: creating greater value for our members.

Membership Growth Starts With All of Us

One statistic we're especially proud of: NABIP Ohio currently boasts approximately 415 members across the state. That's 415 professionals working together to support consumers, employers, and our industry. But we're not stopping there. Every member plays an important role in helping our association grow. A simple invitation to a colleague, a conversation about your NABIP experience, or encouraging a new advisor to attend a chapter event can make a significant impact.

Here's how you can help:

The stronger our membership, the stronger our voice.

Leadership Opportunities Are Waiting for You

Have you ever considered serving in a leadership role? NABIP offers incredible leadership development resources that help members grow professionally while building skills that extend far beyond our association. The NABIP Leadership Academy continues to provide training in:

Whether you're an experienced leader or simply curious about becoming more involved, there's a place for you.

The Power of Mentorship

One of the greatest strengths of NABIP is the willingness of our members to support one another. Our mentorship program continues to grow as more professionals seek guidance, career advice, and industry expertise. There are opportunities to participate as:

Some of the most valuable relationships in our profession begin with a simple conversation. If you've been considering participating, now is a great time to get involved.

Advocacy: The Heart of What We Do

When healthcare policy changes, our clients rely on us to understand what it means for them. That's why advocacy remains one of the most important benefits of NABIP membership. Recent discussions among Region 3 leaders have focused on issues such as:

As trusted advisors, our collective voice matters. The work NABIP members do every day helps shape better outcomes for consumers, employers, and communities throughout Ohio.

Learning Never Stops

One thing we hear consistently from members is the value of education. This year, we are working more closely than ever with local chapters to ensure members are aware of available continuing education opportunities and professional development programs throughout Ohio.

Your professional growth remains one of our highest priorities.

What's Happening Around Ohio?

Across the state, our local chapters continue to create opportunities for members to learn, connect, and have fun. Recent and upcoming events include:

These events aren't just about earning CE credits. They're opportunities to build relationships, exchange ideas, and strengthen the professional community that makes NABIP special.

Celebrating Excellence

One of the highlights this year was the recognition of several remarkable industry leaders through the prestigious Linda Erlenbach Lifetime Achievement Award. We are especially proud to celebrate Ohio's own Barb Gerken, whose dedication and service continue to leave a lasting impact on our profession. Congratulations, Barb, and thank you to all of our volunteers, committee members, chapter leaders, and past presidents whose efforts strengthen NABIP every day.

Investing in Local Chapters

Strong local chapters create strong member experiences. That's why your state board recently approved additional support, resources, and tools to help chapters:

Our chapters are the foundation of NABIP Ohio, and helping them succeed remains a top priority.

Looking Ahead

The coming year is filled with opportunities to grow both personally and professionally. We encourage you to:

No matter where you are in your career, there is a place for you to contribute and make an impact. Together, we can continue building a stronger association, a stronger profession, and a stronger future for Ohio's insurance and benefits community.

Thank You for Being Part of NABIP Ohio!

On behalf of the NABIP Ohio Board of Directors, thank you for your membership, your leadership, and your commitment to serving Ohio consumers and employers. We are excited about the opportunities ahead and look forward to working alongside you throughout the coming year.

Here's to a year of growth, collaboration, advocacy, and success.

Warm Regards,

Sherri Rutter
President, NABIP Ohio
